Biography
Patrick Smyth is a leadership navigator and mentor focused on developing
high performing leaders and businesses by effectively clarifying visions and
developing winning business strategies and plans for achieving success. He
provides guidance to manage the road map and successfully to build
sustained productive growth. He coaches and mentors leaders to realize
their performance and creative potential.Patrick’s talents include developing and growing businesses, general
management, strategic branding and positioning, leadership development
and employee engagement, and optimizing marketing performance. His
background is unique in that it spans software development, product
management, general management, business incubation, and strategic
marketing. He has a big-picture strategic perspective, innovative thinking,
energy, focus on results, and ability to motivate and help others to see the
big picture. These experiences and talents allow him to make a rapid and
significant contribution to any business.
During his extensive career, he led several major initiatives and innovations,
including:
• CEO, Leadership Navigator
Develop visions, business strategies & plans with small high-growth
companies. Board member and leadership navigator to CEOs of several
small businesses. Author of several articles on leadership, change
management, branding, and employee communication. Recognized
speaker and instructor at CEO Space.
• Strategic Branding/Marketing
- SVP Marketing at Emdeon (ex-WebMD) - Led the corporate
re- branding. Realigned the product lines of 9 acquired
companies into a suite of solutions. Built a new marketing
team.
- SVP Marketing at Ceridian - Re-branded Ceridian globally. Realigned
114 products into a cohesive suite of HR solutions. Implemented a
best practices approach to marketing to increase revenue 50%, and
lead generation tenfold.
- VP Marketing at Compaq - Established a global alliance with KPMG
Consulting (BearingPoint). Re-aligned Compaq’s $2B Professional
Services business for e-business applications.
• Business Startup/Turnaround
- VP Marketing at Tandem – Incubated and launched
e-commerce software business to $120M.
- General Manager at AT&T - Led the turnaround of the
UNIX operating system business to profitability in two
years.
- Group Product Manager at AT&T - Incubated and launched
computer networking business to $200M from concept in 3
years.
- Assisted dozens of small and emerging businesses in
developing compelling strategies, preparing to raise
capital, and launching their businesses.
Patrick completed the Leadership Program at Harvard
Business School, the Leadership Development Program at the
Center for Creative Leadership, the Steven Covey Principle
Centered Leadership program, and is a certified Six Sigma
Champion. His BS in Business Administration equivalent is
through Seton Hall University and Bloomfield College in New
Jersey, in addition to many company sponsored education
